It is an almost instinctive reaction to think that reading faster equates to less understanding. Empirical evidence, however, seems to indicate otherwise – People who read slower rates are more likely to not fully understand what they read as those who read too fast.
Therefore, trying to find an optimum between speed reading and general understanding that you have material that is the key to a good read. What follows is a brief overview of how You can try to optimize their reading speed and comprehension at the same time.
Speed & comprehension
Should be the goal of any person wishing to efficiently read to understand what they read, learn from, and then go ahead. The reading should not be an activity that took us more. In this sense, it is generally accepted that someone who can read between 250 and 300 words per minute is an average reader. Those who read less than 250 words per minute are slow readers. And those who read more than 500 words per minute are speed readers. However, there comes a time when reading too fast that make you lose your understanding.
If that's the case, what should be the optimum speed? Only you can tell because you have to try for yourself and try to stretch as much as possible. Different people have different levels.
If we accept that those types of selections are pretty standard, which should be the goal of all our readers to read more than 500 words per minute, but at the same time, not to lose understanding.
Why is it important to read faster anyway?
The reason usually is considered important read with at least minimum speed it is not clear, as is the case for a reader who reads too fast, a person who is reading slowly, probably not understand what they read. Here, it is generally accepted that a slow reader is not able to retain the information he / she just read from your memory / she. In other words, by the time they have served the sentence they have read, that they have forgotten what the beginning of the sentence was about!
Improved speed: Improve your understanding
Having read the above, if you believe it is necessary to increase reading rate, in order to promote both your reading speed and comprehension skills, the following are 5 quick tips to help you also reading skills:
1. Check your eye:
One of the most quoted (no pun) reasons why people have trouble reading at high speed is because you can not see clearly what they are reading, or who suffer from headaches if you read too much, for too long. If you feel these symptoms may be affecting your reading skills, it may be worth the penalty to your eyes checked, because there is a possibility that you may be suffering some kind of eye defect.
2. Read in comfort:
Reading should be a pleasure, not a chore. If you make reading a chore, you will have trouble understanding what they are reading. 3. Reading Material:

5. Block reading and rereading:
As we grow, we must be able to develop the ability to "block reading." Essentially "reading block" means that you have the ability to read more than one word at a time, for example, you can read whole paragraphs at a time. This ability is enhanced by the formation of the eye by extending the period to take over. Also, re-reading, reading or regression, as also known, is a habit you should try to eliminate.
In general, studies indicate that readers who read 250 words per minute (reader of the "media") regression of reading material on a page to 20. In essence, the reverse / re-reading has two main defects:
(i) means they are not understanding what you have read the first time, and
(ii) is to use valuable time that could used to read more.
As such, the removal of these two habits are considered good practice.
Conclusion
Develop capabilities of speed reading to the detriment of understanding is counterproductive. Ultimately, understanding what they are reading is not achieved by reading fast nor slow reading, but reading at optimum speed.
